We recommend doing the tube cleaning at least once in two weeks, because the warning on the panel shows the schedule a week later. It takes time to do Tube Cleaning, but it is necessary to reduce the risks of settling Tio2 pigment.
It takes 15 minutes to clean one tube. A lot of air bubbles and maintenance solution pigments will wash the ink away.

Do not leave GT-381/361 with the white ink inside. If you do not use GT-381/361 for about two weeks, execute tube cleaning and load maintenance solution inside them by initial head cleaning menu, and then exchange maintenance cartridge to Capping Cartridge (option). If you do not print the white ink, do it in the same way.
Do not use filter cartridge for capping; the inside of the needles and tubes may be dried up and clogged.
HOW TO EXECUTE TUBE CLEANING
Confirm first that there is enough room in the waste ink tank.
Remove the Cap (short tube + fitting) of the bottle. Keep it in safe and clean place.
Fill the bottle with maintenance solution (500 ml, at least more than 250 ml per one Print Head), tighten the cap and set it in the hole of the maintenance cartridge.
Insert the tube of the Maintenance Cartridge to the bottom of the bottle.
Make sure that air-in cap is closed.
Select [ Maintenance ] > [ Tube Cleaning ]. Follow the indications on the Panel.
When you select [ All Whites ] then GT-381/361 RETRIEVES the white ink in the tubes back to the ink cartridge. If you select one by one, then no retrieval but go to the next step.
After 90 seconds, with the "beep, beep" sound, the message shows that the retrieval finished. Follow the indication and insert the Maintenance Cartridge to where you are going to clean, starting from W1, with the Air-in Cap capped (closed).
After 30 seconds, with Uncap (open) the air-in cap and press the OK button. The air goes into the tube and washes away the remaining white ink. It takes about 8 minutes to wash one tube. |
After washing with air bubbles, with the "beep, beep" sound again, and the message shows that "close the Air-in Cap" again. Cap it and press OK button. The Maintenance Solution will be filled.
Repeat the cleaning process from W1 to W4 (GT-381) or W1 and W2 (GT-361).
After all print heads are finished, confirm that the tube cleaning is successfully done. If necessary, turn off the printer and open the Front Cover to check if the tube before/after the pre-filter is transparent like the photos below. |
Select [ Maintenance ] > [ Load White ] Do not select Initial Cleaning, because the Tubes are filled with the Maintenance Solution.
If you leave the printer unused, fill the Maintenance Solution in the tube by [ Maintenance ] > [ Load White ] and fill the Tubes with Maintenance Solution.
