GT-541 Reference Guide: when Setting a T-shirt on the Platen

********* Before checked by the sensor *********

The platen, a board for placing garments, looks like this. This is the view from above. There is 100% cotton broadcloth pasted on the surface of the platen which prevents the garments to slip off. This cotton fabric also absorbs excessive ink when you continuously print on thin fabric with many knitted loops such as Hanes Heavy Weight 50/50.. If you accidentally print on this cloth without placing any garments, clean it until the ink does not get on the other fabrics. So that you won't make mess when you print the next T-shirt.

If the cloth is too dirty, peel it off and replace with the new one. Refer to the manual.

Place a T-shirt on the platen from your side as if you dress the platen with the T-shirts. Pay an attention to the center line of the printing side and the level of the shoulders.

When positioning a T-shirt, it is easier to put artwork (print data) at the top.

After you place a T-shirt on the platen, take off creases by hand until the surface is completely flat. Take creases off elaborately for the circled area, as these are areas that easily lifts up and touches the head which consequently damage the head and deteriorate the quality of the printing. The rear end particularly needs extra caution if the size of print data is the maximum size of the Platen 14" x 16". If the print data is shorter in the direction, you don't need to worry so much.

The printing will start from the left of the front side. The printing end point varies depending on the data. Take a little care of layout because the PC monitor image looks like upside down while printing.

When the printing is completed, hold on to the shoulder area, and pull it toward you to remove from the platen. To make the process easier, try to stand beside the platen, facing your back towards the printer instead of standing right in front of the platen. This will be easy when placing the T-shirt in an oven or a hot press machine because the printed side is facing towards you.

Any garments with ribbed bottoms such as sweat shirts, make sure to remove the ribbed bottoms from the corners of the platen gently by your hands as you take it off after printing. Pulling it hard to take it off will cause the back lash of the elastic portion of the garment and may ruin the printing.
