 Color Settings

First of all, let your Photoshop 7 for GT-541. Start Photoshop and Select [ Edit ] > [ Color Settings... ] menu.

This is the most important setting for proper colors.
1. Click  Advanced Mode checkbox to show all the settings menu.
2. Make sure that the settings of  Working Space are [ RGB : sRGB IEC61966-2.1 ] and  [ CMYK : U.S. Web Coated (SWOP)v2 ].
3. Also confirm that the setting of Conversion Options is  [ Intent : Relative Colormetric ].

Note:
GT-541 color management system applies only for sRGB (sRGB IEC61966-2.1). These settings may be changed by your PC settings.
Please be aware of these settings

 Open a new file
|

If you make a new file, be sure to select the mode as RGB color. When you open the existent file, manage the color profile / mode as written below. The following window is of Photoshop CS.

 This window opens when you open an exist file which has no embedded color profile or has a certain color profile which is different from the working spaces. Select [ Assign working RGB : sRGB IEC61966-2.1] to convert when the file is RGB.
|

When the file is CMYK, select [ Assign profile ] and convert to RGB data after you open the file.
|
|

Also when the open file is CMYK, we recommend you to change mode into RGB to print with proper color management. (The following windows are of Photoshop 6 but the operation is the same.)

Go to [ Image ] - [ Mode ] - [ RGB Color ].
|
|
| |
Confirm the title bar if the conversion is done successfully.
|
|
 How to use Color Palette
|

You can get the same color as Color Chart. Download our Color Palette file "GT-541_Colors.aco" beforehand to your PC. Select [ Window ] and check [ Swatches ] to show. Click the little triangle at the rignt top of the window (in the orange circle below) to show the submenu.

Select [ Replace Swatches... ]

The replace window opens. Better to copy the download file GT-541_Colors.aco beforehand to:
Photoshop CS: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS\Presets\Color Swatches\
Photoshop 7: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Presets\Color Swatches\
Photoshop 6: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 6.0\Presets\Color Swatches\
Elements 3.0: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 3.0\Presets\Color Swatches\

There you can use our Color Palette like other swatches. See the alignment of colors is the same as Color Chart.
If you select [ Load Swatches... ], Color Palette will be added to the present swatch.

 How to Print

Select [File] > [Print with Preview... ] to do the layout. This is the most useful way to print WYSWYG.

Confirm the color management settings and layout here.
First click  Show More Options checkbox below the layout window and choose  [ Color Management ] of the pulldown menu. Make sure that radio button of Source Space is  Document: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 or untagged RGB. Select  Print Space as Profile: [ Printer Color Management ]. This setting enabes GT-541 printer driver to do color matching.
After color settings and before positioning the layout, Click [ Page Setup ] button on the window to do Printer Driver settings.

If you've already finished settings, just click [ Print ] button.

This window appears when you click [ Page Setup ]. It shows the current paper size, which means platen size. Click [ Printer... ] button at the bottom right to go into the printer driver settings menu.

This is the Page Setup menu. Make sure that Brother GT-541 (FileOutput) is selected. click the [ Properties... ] buttn to go to the printer driver setting menu.

This is the main settings window for printer driver. See Tour to Printer Driver for the detail settings.
Click [ OK ] to save/close the window.

Confirm the layout of artwork. You can reset size numbers directly. If you want to move the artwork freely, check off the [center image] checkbox and move and resize it directly with dragging Bounding Box. After the layout is done, click [ Print ] button to send data to GT-541. Make sure that Profile of Print Space is [ Printer Color Management ] to print in color-matched colors.

Now you've done everything you have to do on PC. Click [ OK ] button to send print data to GT-541 if the green PRINT BUTTON is blinking. When this button is on, GT-541 (FileOutput) will be ready to print on T-shirt.

 Retouch your image
|

You need MAGIC for beautiful digital print. And Photoshop can do everything you need (indeed if the color settings and color swatches are correct.) Learn more about Photoshop, it is the best solution for digital printing. First of all, check your PC monitor calibration, if possible.

Every tool is here: Select [ Image ] > [ Adjustments ] . Before opening Photoshop help page, just select each menu and check the preview to find out what's going on with your artwork.
There are a lot of ways to make your artwork better in Photoshop. Check them out. When you have Photoshop, retouching is not a designer's job any more.

In my personal opinion, [ Curves ] and [ Levels ] for balancing lightness, [ Color Balance ] for photos under fluorescent lights (ever color turns greenish) and incandescent lights (turns dark-red or orange) are the best tools among those professional tools.
See the two photos: the right dog looks sharper and brighter. You may think this is a very small change on PC monitor, but we will see!

What I did for the right dog was to arrange [ Levels ] of the left photo. If you are familiar with cameras, you will know the meaning.
|

Or see the other photos of another dog (same in other pages). This photo is a little dark and greenish --- you won't believe it, but seeing is believing.
