What's Printer Driver?

Printer Driver starts working when "Print" menu is operated. Its menu may not be something you have to pay attention to. However, Printer Driver plays a very important role because you never print without it. So, no matter what printer you may use, the controlling PC must have the Printer Driver installed. And GT-541 Printer Driver has a strong color matching system for T-shirt printing. Pay attention to those settings to have better print.

What does Printer Driver do?

Printer Driver's job is to convert the light values, which you see in the monitor, into the ink values to re-create the image by printing objects. Explaining by using specific terms, it is to convert RGB (three primary colors of colored light) into CMYK (three primary colors of ink plus black). (If you want to learn more, go to TIPS of Color Matching). Furthermore, if the GT-541 is connected with the PC by USB cable, the communication is bidirectional. The printer collects information of the printer such as low remaining ink volume or errors, and sends it to the PC to notify the PC operator.

How Printer Driver works

Printer Driver starts working when [ Print ] or [ Page Setup ] of an application is operated. Choose Brother GT-541 (USB) or Brother GT-541 FileOutput (making print data file) and click [ Properties ] or [ Preferences ] button to do the settings of Printer Driver.

Paper/Quality
GT-541 resolution is 600dpi x 600 dpi only. Version of Printer Driver is also mentioned here.

Utility
This page only appears when you choose Brother GT-541 printer. When you choose Brother GT-541 FileOutput printer, only Main Setting and Paper/Quality are available.

In upper half, 4 test print data are available to be sent: Nozzle Check Pattern, Standard Check Pattern, InkVolume Check Pattern and Color Chart. Choose the print data name and click [ Print ] button to send each print data to GT-541.

In lower half there appears GT-541 status. The following window is an example: it means that "GT-541 is online, every ink cartridge is full enough, and no error occurs".

Nozzle Check Pattern and Standard Check Pattern are also in GT-541 printer. Push [ Menu ] button and choose [ Test Print ] with [ OK ] button. Especially Nozzle Check Pattern is useful for firing ink. Use before/after head cleaning.
